Dental Nurses in Cambodia
Posted on 12/06/23
You may recall back in 2019 we were raising funds for Dental Nurses Paula and Emily to travel to Cambodia to provide desperately needed dental care in various institutions, Finally after a two and a half year delay due to the pandemic, they made it, volunteering for Dentaid as part of a team of clinicians making a real difference. During their 2 week stay they treated 241 prisoners and performed
241 extractions, 141 fillings and 59 scales.
Across two schools they examined 285 children and 2 adults with 1,585 decayed teeth between them. They carried out 4 extractions, 68 fillings , applied fluoride varnish to 1,551 teeth and fissure sealed 590 teeth. Paula and Emily have been humbled by their experience are eternally grateful to the patients and staff that generously donated all that tine ago to allow them to finally realise their ambition.
